There are several different types of buildings within FarmVille, and making certain that you get the building that you really need is very important. Not only can they be useful for storage, but they can help to really make your farm look…well… like a farm! From houses, to barns, and chicken coops, there are a large array of options that you can find to arrange around your farm to make it really easy to improve not only your storage space, but also the look of your farm quickly.
The most common type of building is the storage buildings. With tons of seasonal items, this is very important and can help you to keep as many of your items as possible. Since you can only keep so many on your land, you need the help of a good storage building to make more room without having to sell off all of your special items. For example, a storage shed or barn can be helpful since it will allow you to pack up some decorative items that you would otherwise just have to sell off, and possibly never get back.
Picking out the type of storage is a very tricky process. You need to balance the look you want, with the maximum storage capacity. For example, while a large barn might look really nice, it can take up quite a bit of space, and only offers a small amount of storage in return. This can make it a bad idea for many farms, despite how cool it looks. In order to improve your storage capacity, you need to think creatively, especially if you do not want to spend any actual cash to upgrade your storage.
Other building types include animal buildings. This would be things such as the chicken coop, as well as the dairy farm. They take up a minimal amount of room compared to the individual animals, plus allow you to quickly and easily confine the animals to a single place. This can be quite useful if you are looking to reduce the amount of space that animals take. Especially helpful is the dairy farm since cows can be one of the largest animals and take an abundance of space.

Rather than using many decoration buildings, maximizing the space with storage buildings or animal buildings is a much better option and quite a bit cheaper as well.
