Quick Start Guide

The idea of starting a farm and watching the crops grow and be exciting, add in a few elements to the game such as animals, trees, special edition items and even buildings and you have an entire farm at your fingertips. For some, it is just a small hobby that takes a few minutes of time a day, for others it is an exciting obsession that can draw attention and attraction from people who play for hours a day.

Learning how you can get started is the first step towards getting the results that you want, quickly and easily without losing your patience. By getting started slowly, and learning the tools and tricks of the game, you can quickly turn your tiny little farm into a massive farm full of crops, trees and animals.

Because of the way the game is setup, there is no ultimate stopping point. There is a wide range of levels for you to aspire for, a huge array of ribbons to earn, tons of coins to earn from crops and harvests and a huge assortment of special edition items that you can earn. By playing the game, you will quickly be able to increase the size of your farm, but also acquire a nice collection of coins that can be used to help you do a lot of decorating all around the farm.

Getting Started

Your first step is actually installing the application. To do this, you need to login into your Facebook account, and install the application. Once this is done, you are able to actually get started on your farm.

Once the farm is installed, there are two ribbons that you should attempt to earn first. Both are very easy to achieve, but offer high rewards that can be quite helpful as you are attempting to improve your farm. The first is the Not Spoiled, Gifted! Ribbon, and the other is the Local Celebrity.

To earn these rewards, you need to first add some friends as neighbors for your farm to earn the Local Celebrity. The more friends you add, the higher the ribbon you earn, and the larger your reward, both in experience points, but also coins.

4 friends added earns the Yellow Ribbon and awards 10 experience points and 1,000 coins
8 friends added earns the White Ribbon and awards 25 experience points and 2,500 coins
25 friends added earns the Red Ribbon and awards 50 experience points and 5,000 coins
50 friends added earns the Blue Ribbon and awards 100 experience points and 10,000 coins

Each of these ribbons is quite easy to earn, and can enable you to quickly add a large amount of coins to your balance which can be quite useful in paying for farm upgrades, crops and even equipment. By checking under the My Neighbors tab, you will be able to quickly send out invitations to people who you are already friends with that currently play FarmVille. This will make it much easier to improve the likelihood that your invitation is accepted, rather than ignore by someone who is not playing.

The next highly easy to obtain award is the Not Spoiled, Gifted! Award. To do this, all you do is accept gifts from your friends but do not actually use them. Keep them in your storage until you obtain the highest ribbon possible, or the Blue Ribbon.

Holding 3 unique gifts earns the Yellow Ribbon and awards 10 experience points and 1,000 coins
Holding 9 unique gifts earns the White Ribbon and awards 20 experience points and 2,500 coins
Holding 15 unique gifts earns the Red Ribbon and awards 50 experience points, 5,000 coins and a special prize
Holding 21 unique gifts earns the Blue Ribbon and awards 100 experience points, and 10,000 coins

As you can see, this is one ribbon that is very easy to do, especially since many people already have gifts waiting on them to accept before they ever actually install FarmVille which can make this achievement take only a couple of days for the majority of players. The only catch is that each gift that is received must be different, which is why they must be unique. For example, receiving 9 apple trees is not acceptable, however receiving 9 different trees is. After you have earned the Blue Ribbon, you can start placing the items out in your farm and enjoy using them, or sell them if you have no usage for them.

Once you have completed just these two accomplishments, you will have earned 37,000 coins and an impressive 365 experience points. This will allow you to unlock the yellow ribbon for the High Roller accomplishment, which gives you another 500 coins, as well as 50 experience points.

Now that you have acquired a nice collection of coins, as well as experience points, it is time to get started making your farm larger. You need to make your farm as big as possible, this allows you to plant more crops, have more space for animals, and also use a lot more buildings. If you have completed the entire Local Celebrity accomplishment, then expanding your farm should be no problem since the size you are allowed to expand to, is directly related to the number of friends or neighbors that you have.

To start with, you are given a farm that is 12×12 in size. After completing the Local Celebrity accomplishment, you will have enough money to pay the 10,000 coin upgrade charge, as well as the friends required to even unlock the option. From here, you will pick up not only an additional bit of room on the farm, 52 squares to be exact, but also 50 experience points and even a free gift.

After upgrading the farm, it is time to get to business and actually start planting. To begin with, you need to determine how you want to lay out your farm. One of the most common methods is to separate plants across the farm based on the style. This can be highly effective, especially as you are trying to keep track of the harvest schedule. If you want to leave space between the plots, you will need to determine how much as well. Once you get this decided, it’s time to select the plowing tool and get started plowing the plots that you will need.

Each plot that you plow will cost you 15 coins, but will earn you 1 experience point. Once you have finished all of the plowing, you can go to the market and select the seeds that you want to plant. Be sure to watch the time before they can be harvested. For example, you shouldn’t plan strawberries if you won’t be able to return to your farm until the next day. Strawberries must be harvested within four hours, while other crops have a much longer time until they are ready. You want to find the crop that will provide you the highest return of coins as well so be sure to look over all of your options until you find the best match for your needs.

While you are waiting on the crops to be ready to harvest, you can get started looking around for places to put all of the gifts that you have been given. Typically, the outskirts of the farm is the best since it is out of the way, and will not block your camera angles as you are moving around. This can also help you to earn more points since trees offer things to harvest and you can even harvest from the animals as well. Plus, an added benefit is by harvesting from the trees and plants, you can earn more coins, experience points and ribbons.

Once your crops are ready to harvest, it is time to pull out the multi-tool and start harvesting. Remember, once you are done harvesting you will need to plow each plot again before planting a new set of seeds, but this will get you started on the way to earning a lot of coins and creating a really amazing farm within FarmVille.
